- How do I book a photoshoot?

Headshot or sports photography via a telephone call.
Booking a family or senior session is easy.
– The first step would be to contact us to set up a studio tour. The studio tour is where we meet and get to know each other and discuss ideas and to ensure we are a good fit. Many times this session turns into a planning session.
– The second step is the shoot! We meet at the planned location and have a blast capturing the images that best represent you and/or your family.
– The third step is to come back to the studio to view the images, pick out your favorites, and to pick out what products you would like to have of your images.
– The fourth step is to come pick up your products!
- What time of year is best to take our portraits?

Family portraits are very versatile and can have a different look depending on the season. Some families may prefer in the fall/winter to send out festive Christmas cards. Although fall/winter can come with cooler temperatures that smaller children may be too uncomfortable in. Other families may choose a warmer time of year if the family is all together for a vacation.
We start taking senior portraits the summer before the senior year and continue all throughout the spring. It is recommended to have your senior portrait session earlier to ensure you have your portraits in time to send out graduation announcements or if you would like to submit them for the yearbook. However, no matter the time of year, we will have a blast and create memories that will last a lifetime!
Headshots are great to be updated anytime of the year. Headshots are both taken inside and outside making them easy to capture no matter the season.
- What is the turnaround time for our images?

Just a few days! After the shoot we will set up a time for you to come back to the studio for the portrait viewing and ordering session. This is where the images are viewed and the portrait products are ordered. Everyone who is needed to make a decision is required to be at this session. Product printing turnaround time is usually 4-6 weeks depending on the products that are purchased.

- What types of photography do you offer?

Here at JW Portrait studios, we offer several types of portraits. However, we specialize in senior portraits, family portraits, sports photography, and professional headshots.
- What types of payment do you accept?

We prefer checks and accept all major credit cards.
- Will I receive digital files of my portraits?

Yes! We provide a web quality (not print quality) digital image for every portrait you purchase as a physical item.
- Can we change our session?

Since most sessions are scheduled the month of, confirmed the week of, and a time frame is reserved based on the session you selected; we ask that you advise us within 7 days from your scheduled shoot so that we can book another senior. We have VERY limited weekend availability so if you change, we may be wasting that time if we can't rebook. Let us know if you would like to upgrade your session to lock in any additional time if needed.
- Can we pick up part of our order early?

Around the holidays or graduation, you may want to give/display photos. Partial pickups are ok as long as you are paid in full. Let us know early if you have a special occasion and need your order by a specific date.
- We know a place we can use for photos, is that ok?

Many folks have property at the beach, family property or have friends that have a beautiful location in mind. We are always open to new locations so feel free to ask around or mention to us any spots that you think would be interesting to use. We enjoy going to new spots and exploring hidden gems, especially if they are significant to you.
- Can I bring a friend to my Senior Session?

Of course you can! When photographing senior photos, most seniors bring mom and dad. If you want to bring a friend along with you as well, you are more than welcome to.
- What happens if we are late for our session?

Most of the time we book our sessions with a 15 minute cushion built in whether in the studio or on location. BUT, if we do have back to back sessions and can't add this time onto the end of your sessions, it will be deducted from your overall session time.
- How often should I update my professional headshot?

We recommend that you update your headshot every two years or when you have a major change to your physical appearance, for example a significant haircut.
- How often should I update my family portraits?

Family portraits are very important because the way your family looks is ever changing. You probably would like to update your family portraits every few years as some family members are aging and new family members join the family. Many families take annual family portraits so they can send out photo Christmas cards.
- What should we bring for family portraits?

You are welcome to bring anything that is of significance to your family! Family heirlooms and other items important to your family are always welcome. Please discuss this during the planning session.
- Should we bring anything for a senior portrait session?

You should bring outfits that make you feel your best. We do have clothing in our client closet you can browse if you'd like also. You should bring anything that showcases who you are and your hobbies for example, your letterman jacket or class ring! Your senior session should be all about you and who you are!
- Will you travel for a portrait session?

We travel around the Topsail area. We travel farther upon request.
- Can my company bring in a group for professional headshots?

Yes. We are happy to set up a time for your business to have professional headshots taken at one time.
- Can my pet join in for a few pictures?
-
Absolutely! Our pets are a part of our family. You are welcome to have your pets join in the fun for a few images.
